Rhayader Carnival Week is a combination of Art, Sport and Culture some of which you will only ever see in the small market town of Rhayader. In true carnival style, the week is 8 days long! The Carnival Committee had to extend the week to make it all fit!

Despite the A470 running over the town, which I may add came after the carnival started 105 years ago, we still manage to put on some amazing events which may seem bizarre to the passer by.

Rhayader Carnival Week offers three world championship events as well as a chance to climb Rhayader’s highest mountain in the fell run. If sport is not your thing then just grab a pint, take a seat and watch or maybe go to one of our other events like the Vintage show, The Grand Quiz or our mystery event.

The weeks highlight event is of course the carnival day, with Queens from 5 local towns and a large entry of floats and walkers taking part in the parade. After the parade everyone heads down to the park to crown the queen and enjoy the fete atmosphere.
